TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL DUKE GARDENS PHOTO SESSION

There are so many Triangle locations for beautiful photography sessions, but Duke Gardens is an iconic and lovely location most any time of year. With a variety of backdrops ranging from flowers to fountains and bridges, Duke Gardens can help your portrait session vision come to life.

There are a few things to remember when planning your photography session at Duke Gardens:

1. You must plan ahead. Planning ahead is key for a successful portrait session. A permit in advance is required and must be purchased online. If you would like that golden hour look during the late afternoon or early evening hours, the permit costs a little more. Planning your session on a weekday is also a great way to minimize potential background crowds and distractions.

2. Check your timing. Looking for a beautiful backdrop with fall colors or a spring palette of light flowers? Plan your session according to the time of year that the right colors are blooming for your ideal concept. While Duke Gardens is beautiful any time of year, look online to see when the flowers are at their peak for your particular color scheme.

3. Think twice about props. While a senior session with confetti sounds fun, it is not allowed at Duke Gardens. Balloons, glitter, confetti, rice, kites and flying lanterns -- or any other materials that leave waste or residue -- are strictly prohibited. If you want to incorporate any of these props into your session, you might want to find another location that will allow for these items.

Duke Gardens is one of many beautiful places in the Triangle to take absolutely stunning images. If you are interested in this location or another place for your portrait session, contact me to talk about your ideas!
