FOUR REASONS TO CHOOSE MODERN PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY | North Carolina Portrait Photographer

As a seasoned Raleigh portrait photographer, I’ve captured my fair share of sessions both outdoors and in my studio.  While I love the warmth of a golden hour outdoor session, I’m also no stranger to the issues outdoor photos can present both to myself as the photographer and to my clients. To be perfectly frank,  the perks of studio photography are undeniable!  Here are four reasons to consider a modern studio portrait photo session:

Scheduling Flexibility

With outdoor sessions, there are only a  few, small windows of time where lighting is ideal for professional photos.  It can be very limiting for both the photographer and clients alike. Modern studio portraits, on the other hand, are taken in controlled environments and offer more flexibility to accommodate busy schedules.

Lighting is Always Ideal

Did you know natural lighting is still attainable for modern studio portraits? Gone are the days of harsh, blinding studio lights! Like so many other fields, photography has come a long way in the last 30 years and the tools have changed right along with the professionals. Lighting can be soft and natural, backgrounds can be changed, and conditions are always ideal with studio portraits.

Weather is a Non-issue

Any Raleigh native knows all about the infamous Southern humidity and frequently unpredictable outdoor conditions. Inclement weather and colder temps in the fall and winter can make for uncomfortable or rescheduled sessions. The humidity is not your friend when it comes to hair and makeup for photos and the heat can be downright sweltering in the summer. Climate-controlled studios omit these common concerns and pain points.

Timeless Style

Like improved photography tools, studio images have also changed quite a bit with the times. When you think of studio portraits, you may be envisioning a family photo from the late ‘80s or early ‘90s. You might recall everyone was carefully posed with little variation from one client to the next. Alternatively, modern portraits are exactly that: modern. I’m able to capture clients authentically, not necessarily in the starched styles of studio photography past.  Backdrops are neutral and don't distract from my subjects. These  timeless images keep clients the focal point while allowing personality to shine. These sessions are ideal for a variety of clients from headshots to school portraits.

My goal as a modern portrait photographer is to continue to serve the Raleigh area through classic images with a modern, professional feel.  Ready to put your best face forward with a modern portrait session of your own?  Contact me here with any questions or to get the process started!
