In this digital age, you've likely seen a wide range of photography styles that, like many other trends, come & go over the years. Modern portrait photography, on the other hand, has been a staple in the photo community for many years. It's just become more polished and --you guessed it-- modernized.
These photos are taken in a studio setting which allows more control over lighting and other variables that contribute to a successful session. However, my style is likely not what comes to mind for most people when they envision studio photography. Unlike studio photos of bygone eras, I keep backgrounds neutral and clients laughing. While these photos are elegant, I take a different approach to posing my clients to capture authentic images that display their unique personalities without distractions.
Like a little black dress or a well-fitted suit, modern studio portraits never go out of style!
Why is Modern Portrait Photography Important?
I chose modern portraits to be my focus because I recognize the importance of timeless, heirloom-quality photos. Modern portraits keep things simple and classic. There are no trends that will appear outdated in the next five years. Backdrops are neutral to keep subjects the focal point which also allows a great deal of versatility where wardrobes & session focuses are concerned.
These sessions are designed to be polished, not stiff. As a modern portrait photographer, my goal is to strip away all of the non-necessities in a session and instead focus entirely on the people in the photo. Modern portraits are classic, posh, and withstand the test of time.
